Highland Broadsword/Celtic Christianity Classes
Madainn mhath, a charaidean!/Good morning, friends!
I have heard many of you asking for a new Celtic Christianity course, to which some have given me input from the last attempt. Thank you for your feedback, as it helps me to understand how to meet the needs of everyone wanting to learn. Since then, I have been deliberating on how to change my approach so that everyone’s needs and practicality are balanced.
Thus, I am pleased to announce that I have partnered with Neuma Martial Arts to begin teaching classes on both Highland Broadsword and offering Celtic Christianity formation classes. As I am a Level 1 Broadsword Instructor certified by the Cateran Society, with a B.S. in Exercise Science and years of experience in martial arts and personal training, I will be teaching classes on the principles of traditional Scottish fencing and Regimental Broadsword. While some focus on competitions, I will be focusing on cultivating virtue and the adoption of Christian chivalric values. My goal is to build people up through an embodied life of Christ parallel to the teachings of St. Bernard of Clairvaux. At the same time, classes will be held on Christian formation pertaining to the Celtic Christian tradition. This will entail a meditation segment followed along with a lecture on history and theology suitable for all ages. For those interested to learn more, or looking to further one’s understanding, this is for you.
Classes will begin on Oct. 14th at 3:00pm at Neuma Martial Arts, located at 1617- B W Market St. in Johnson City, TN. The first class will be free and an hour long, where the first 30 minutes will pertain to Highland Broadsword and the second 30 minutes to Celtic Christianity. If you choose to join, the ongoing rate will be $50 per person per month. This entails both the Highland Broadsword and Celtic Christianity components of the class, and it is possible to skip one or the other if you prefer. If you only want to attend the Celtic Christianity class and live far away, a long-distance class will be provided through Zoom at $25 per person per month. This will be paid to my PayPal through my email address: dashley93@outlook.com. Please make sure to include in the note your primary email address so that I can send out the Zoom link.
I highly encourage everyone to attend the first class, as it will be used to gauge interest. The more people that attend may allow for more class times moving forward.
Tapadh leibh/Thank you,
Dustin A. Ashley
